泵體內部葉輪泵室下方設置低于入水口和出水口的儲水腔,在泵室入水口內側上方設置虹吸控制腔,入水口的入水管路內側通過延伸段向上延伸進入到虹吸控制腔內,延伸段開口高于葉輪的葉片高度;啟動前先通過注水口經虹吸控制腔對儲水腔內預先注入水,以確保葉輪順利啟動,停機后虹吸控制腔內的介質首先通過延伸段流出,形成沒有介質的空腔,打斷虹吸通道,同時保證儲水腔內保持有一定量的介質;結構簡單,成本低廉,運行可靠,設備使用壽命長。

自吸泵一般通過電機帶動葉輪旋轉,輸送介質從入口抽吸進入泵體內腔后,從出口輸出,泵體內腔在介質流通時由介質填滿,停機時由于虹吸作用介質仍然保持流動進入泵體內腔的趨勢,需打斷虹吸通道,傳統方法中一般在泵體上設置一個開口,通過開口連接電磁閥,由電磁閥輸送空氣破壞虹吸通道,以便自吸泵下次使用時能夠順利啟動,其結構復雜,易損壞,設備成本投入高,可靠性差。
