1.TPE的組分中有一項是軟化油,軟化油屬于低分子物質，在加工時或較高溫度條件下容易揮發釋放小分子物質，容易導致材料釋放較大氣味。低硬度（0~30A)的TPE，氣味比高硬度(70~100A)TPE要大，無氣味TPE，硬度通常較高。
2.油的品質，氫化度等不同，油本身的味道大小有差別。好的軟化油味道小，劣質的油品，味道較重，甚至有淡淡的柴油味。無氣味TPE，應選擇高品質的油品作為配混體系軟化劑。
3.配混體系其他組分的選擇。其他組分應盡量選擇味道小氣味小的組分，如塑料樹脂的選擇，助劑的選擇等等都要考慮到方方面面。
