Performance testing plays a significant role in operators’ device acceptance programmes. The Global Certification Forum (GCF) is now starting to introduce performance testing as part of its conformance certification scheme. The device ‘ecosystem’, consisting of device and chipset manufacturers, operators and independent laboratories, is calling for precise, automated, repeatable and reliable performance tests to measure and optimise parameters such as data throughput, impact of signalling, audio quality and radio performance.
