熱塑性彈性體TPE（Thermoplastic Elastomer） 是一種具有硫化橡膠的物理性能，又具有熱塑性塑料的加工性能特征的新一代環保材料，具有環保無毒安全，硬度范圍廣，有優良的著色性，觸感柔軟，耐候性，抗疲勞性和耐溫性，加工性能*，無須硫化，可以循環使用降低成本，可謂是塑料和橡膠優點的優勢組合，
TPE熱塑性彈性體正逐步占領PVC和橡膠的應用領地。主要原因在于橡膠氣味大，不可回收利用，不環保，耐油性、耐溶性比較差，不具備耐臭氧化性，電氣絕緣性差，不適宜作為絕緣材料，不易儲存，易老化，在低溫的情況下會變硬，穩定性差，密度大，加工時不易掌控。PVC—聚氯乙烯，是一種有毒的含氯樹脂。加工時添加了增塑劑，增塑劑的含量越大，材料越柔軟，廣泛的用于建材，人造皮革中。聚氯乙烯塑料制品在較高溫度下，如50℃左右就會慢慢地分解出對人體有害的氣體。
