Regulated power adapter is widely used and has many types, which can be roughly divided into the following types.
Sliding AC regulator: A device that changes the position of the sliding contact of the transformer to stabilize the output voltage, that is, an automatic voltage regulating AC regulator driven by a servo motor. This type of regulator has high efficiency, good output voltage waveform and no special requirements for load properties. But the stability is low and the recovery time is longer.
With the development of power supply technology, the following three new types of AC regulated power supplies appeared in the 1980s. ① Compensated voltage regulator power adapter: also known as partial adjustment regulator. The additional voltage of the compensation transformer is connected in series between the power supply and the load, and with the input voltage level, the intermittent AC switch (contactor or thyristor) or the continuous servo motor is used to change the size or polarity of the additional voltage, and the higher part of the input voltage (or the insufficient part) is subtracted (or added), so as to achieve the purpose of voltage regulation. The capacity of the compensating transformer is only about 1/7 of the output power, which has the advantages of simple structure and low cost, but the stability is not high. (2) CNC voltage regulator power adapter and step-in regulator: the control circuit is composed of a logic element or microprocessor, and the primary turns of the transformer are converted according to the input voltage, so that the output voltage is stable. (3) Static voltage regulator power adapter: due to its good isolation effect, it can eliminate peak interference from the grid and be applied.
